Taking a cue from health trends and research, Skaná spa at Turning Stone Resort Casino will be adding a new Himalayan Salt Stone Massage treatment to its extensive treatment menu beginning May 1.  Himalayan salts have been shown to reduce inflammation, reduce muscle cramps by improving hydration, help to balance blood sugar in the body and induce deep relaxation.  With the 84 naturally occurring minerals and elements found in the pure salt stones, mined from the Himalayan Mountains, Skaná’s new Himalayan Salt Stone Massage will soothe tired muscles and release tension, reduce inflammation, balance the central nervous system, nourish depleted cells in the body, stimulate circulation and improve the quality and length of sleep.  Skaná’s Himalayan Salt Stone Massage is a 75 minute treatment available for $165 (Mon-Thurs) and $180 (Fri-Sun).

The new massage at Skaná features warmed Himalayan salt stones massaged over the body in a specific sequence to balance the body’s meridians, or energy channels. As the salt stones heat, negative ions are released into the air, which has been shown to reduce oxidative stress on the body. Drawing upon traditional Chinese medicine therapy, the Himalayan Salt Stone Massage grounds and balances the body's electromagnetic field, and the pressure, motion, and thermal effects used during the treatment work to replenish nutrients in the connective tissue, reducing muscle tension, while creating deep relaxation.
