Between the two of them, the father-son duo has logged nearly 20 years of experience at Turning Stone Resort Casino. Both work in jobs that enable them to interact closely with guests every single day.

Mike, 63, is the dad, and has been with the Oneida Indian Nation since 2013. In his current role as director of player development, he manages gaming VIPs and oversees casino hosts. Justin, 27, is the son, and joined the team one year after his dad. In his role as entertainment and events coordinator, he oversees production of pretty much every big event at the resort.

“There isn’t much around here we don’t touch, ” Mike joked.

Added Justin: “There are lot of great things about working here, but the best thing is that I get to do it with my dad.”

The Redvivos aren’t the only father-son team that has worked at Turning Stone Resort Casino over the years; given our longevity as a business, we’ve been fortunate to have many generations of same-family employees on board. Coupled with the fact that the Oneida Indian Nation treats all employees like family, this trend makes perfect sense.

Mike, a native of the Buffalo area, came to Turning Stone after seven years of working the same gig at Foxwoods Casino Resort. Justin, who is not married and has no kids of his own, came on board right after he wrapped up college.

The duo loves sharing the story of how Justin joined the team. Mike and two colleagues were lined up for a round of golf and they needed a fourth players and asked Justin to join. By the end of the round, Justin ended up talking himself into an entry-level position at TS Steakhouse. Over the years, he has worked in just about every department: Nightlife, Food & Beverage, Golf, Sports Book, and now Events.

Both men consider themselves extroverts—an important personality trait in jobs that require them to spend so much time interacting with guests. Since Mike often brings his players to events that Justin organizes, they get to spend quite bit of time together during the workday.

“We always try to have lunch together at events, ” Mike said. “Justin’s department does so much for our division and our players, so there’s always a lot of crossover.”

For Justin, working with his dad gives him a sense of great pride.

“I feel honored to be able to be this close with my father— it’s definitely something I don’t take for granted,” he said. “I’ve always looked up to what he’s done. Following in his footsteps in some way is something I’ve wanted to do my entire life.”

The two men don’t just work together—they live together, as well, in Justin’s childhood home.

While the Redivivos won’t be together to celebrate Father’s Day this year (Mike will be visiting Justin’s sister in Canada), they have vowed to play a round of golf at Sandstone when they can.

“I’m the better golfer,” Justin quipped. His father’s response: “We’ll see about that.”
