Props Drive Baseball Playoff Wagering
October is playoff time in Major League Baseball, and the best way to get in on the action is to pick a winner in the sports book - The Lounge with Caesars Sports.
Many guests who wager on sports choose the moneyline, the point spread, or the total of the game. Another fun option: Prop, or proposition bets, which are available by the dozen for every MLB postseason game.
In particular, the Turning Stone sports book offers props on strikeouts for starting pitchers and hits and home runs for many starting position players. For a recent National League Division Series matchup between the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers, for example, the book had 17 different player props.
Props work just like bets on the run line—the book hangs a total and guests pick over or under.
For example, the line for hits from Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts might be 2.5, and guests can wager whether Bogaerts will get more or fewer than that amount.
“Prop bets are a fun way of getting excited about something other than the outcome of the game,” said Justin Arnett, Director of Sports Book Operations. “We want to give our guests as many options as possible.”
As the baseball playoffs continue, The Lounge with Caesars Sports likely will offer more props per game, culminating in roughly two dozen per contest for the World Series at the end of the month.
If you follow one or two players closely, now might be the time to bet big on their success.
